Item Description
This material is some of the most beautiful and unique Tourmaline I've seen. Although there have been crystals and mineral specimens of this material on the market for a few years, rarely are they clean enough to cut stones. This "oval cabochon" cut gem shows a dark imperial green color when backlit. The presence of chromium, a strong chromophore in the gem world, is what causes this intense green color. Understandably, the stone is not 100% clean, as Tourmaline is classified as a "Type 3" gemstone, which means inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by dealers and collectors. If you collect Tourmalines, large (for the material) stone is a must-add to your collection.
