Item Description

These green tourmalines from the Merelani mines, which get their bright green color from trace amounts of vanadium, possibly with a small amount of chromium (see Vol. 40, Number 5 - September-October 2009 Mineralogical Record), are rare, and highly sought-after by collectors due to their amazing color. This sharply trigonal crystal is complete all around and has a striking, etched termination. It is well-striated and has good luster. The backlit photo highlights the moderate translucence and incredible green color saturation. 114.64 carats or over almost 23 grams. Valued at $900.
