Chrome Diopside (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A prismatic group of parallel growth rich green chromium-bearing Diopside from the classic locality at Outokumpu. This is a euhedral crystal group, and not a broken fragment like many seen from this area. The piece is incomplete on the back, but still well crystallized on the front. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12493). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
