Item Description
A classic example of the "Chrome Sphenes" from Baja, Mexico featuring sharp, lustrous, translucent, well-formed, wedge-shaped crystals measuring up to 9 mm on matrix. The chromium in the crystals gives it the rich green color. It's mostly a reference specimen as the crystals are not full terminated, but the color and form are still good. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4215). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
