Item Description

Christelite is an exceptionally rare hydrated copper zinc sulfate found in only four places in the world since its discovery in 1996. The species was lovingly named after Christel Gebhard-Giesen who is actually the wife of the rare mineral expert Georg Gebhard who actually discovered the mineral. This piece is from the type locality for Christelite and features a beautiful sky-blue patches associated with slightly more greenish Herbertsmithite (?) on Quartz matrix. Beautiful to view under magnification, and a perfect piece to add to any rare mineral collection, or a suite of species from the type locality. This is the only piece of this material that we have to offer and comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value. You can read Joe's biography here: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1371 Valued at $950 in the inventory.
