Item Description

A rarely seen association specimen from the old Lime Crest Quarry (a marble quarry) in New Jersey. Although specimens from this quarry are found in the Franklin Marble, this locality is not part of the Franklin Mining District. Lime Crest dates back to 1895 and was actually owned / operated by Thomas Edison in the early 20th century. This piece is one of the very few examples of this material that I've seen from this locality featuring soft yellow orange crystalline Chondrodite associated with some fine quality, tabular hexagonal crystals of metallic dark grey Graphite measuring up to 5 mm, on massive white marble matrix. The accompanying label states that the piece was either collected or acquired on May 22, 1994. You don't see a lot of pieces from this locality on the market, especially cabinet display specimens,
