Item Description
An OLD-TIME, VERY RICH and CLASSIC piece from the long-closed Tilly Foster Mine of New York of numerous, sharp, lustrous, ALL gemmy, color-zoned, rust-brown chondrodite crystals to 7 mm nicely scattered on contrasting matrix. The crystals are gemmier, overall, than most specimen we have seen. This is an EXCELLENT and showy piece from this famous iron mine (magnetite ore), that closed in 1897! This is one of THE most classic and desirable of old East Coast locales. Comes with an old label in German and purchased at the Munich show some years ago. Valued $750
