Item Description

Bright, metallic, interpenetrating, chloanthite crystals (nickel-rich skutterudite) to 3 mm richly cover the vuggy matrix of massive chloanthite. Once described as a species, it has now been discredited. This old-time, excellent and rare material is from the famous Schneeberg District and probably dates to the 1800s or early 1900s. Ex Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection and acquired in Zurich in 1968 for 100 Swiss Francs. Superb, 3-dimensional example. Valued $500-750
