Childrenite & Apatite on Orthoclase (Matioli Coll.)

Item Description

Extremely rare, rich and showy combination material from this obscure Rio Grande do Norte mine. Multigenerational lustrous, translucent, straw-yellow to colorless elongated hexagonal apatite prisms, to about 5 mm, are dramatically festooned on three sides of the sculptural feldspar matrix. The fantastic looking arborescent spray of clear crystals in the front is 1.3 cm tall. Well-formed, tabular, pyramidal, orthorhombic, lustrous gray-green-brown childrenite crystals and crystals section are visible on all sides. The rich cluster near the top of the front of the piece hosts an impressive sharp partially hidden 2.5 cm crystal (visible on both sides) with the back having a sharp 1.6 cm wide isolated crystal.
