Item Description
It is likely that you have seen childrenite, a rare hydrated phosphate mineral (Fe++Al(PO4)(OH)2 ?(H2O), only in small crystals. So one look at this whopper tells you that this specimen in just unbelievable both in terms of the size of the crystals, and their richness in number! I measured one crystal here at 4.5 cm in length! This is a complex conglomeration of crystals that does have some points of contact, but I doubt you could find anything like this that does NOT (that is, if you could even find anything like this)! There is no matrix here; this is ALL childrenite, with the crystals naturally cemeted together.
