Chevkinite-(Ce) (rare) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Chevkinite-(Ce) is a rare very complex REE silicate found in unusual aegirine-quartz-feldspar pegmatites. This attractive specimen features a good sized crystal for the species and comes from the small find circa 2001 from this obscure locale above Arondu. The sharp tabular crystal has lustrous prism faces with a dark greenish-black color. The piece has a few imperfections, but is still a great representation of this rare mineral. These are undoubtedly the finest large crystals in the world for this very rare species. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12952).
