Item Description

Chevkinite-(Ce) is a rare REE silicate, with perhaps the world's finest examples coming from Pakistan. These Chevkinites are splendent, well-terminated, and euhedral with a modified tabular habit. The crystals are intergrown, but not so much that you can't appreciate the excellent terminations and lustrous faces that do exist. These euhedral crystals are significant in size, with the largest crystal being 3.2 cm wide and 2.5 cm tall. The reverse, concave side of this plate is coated with very fine, highly lustrous, small Chevkinites that are bladed. This is a showy and highly representative example of this rare species from one single major find that came to market in the early 2000s. valued $2000.
