Item Description

An OLD-TIME, LARGE CABINET specimen from the famous mines at Bisbee and the Mullane Collection. This IMPRESSIVE specimen looks like a ship or spaceship. The sturdy, very vuggy gossan matrix is RICHLY coated on all sides with chatoyant, radial fans of PRIMARY malachite blades. The 3.7 cm malachite whorl is striking. The older label with the piece has the malachite misidentified as "brochantite". They did not believe, that primary malachite could be this rich and distinctive. I had my doubts, as to this being brochantite (it would have been the best!), so I had it X-rayed. It is malachite, and this is still certainly a dramatic, large, old-timer from Bisbee. It weighs 4.6 pounds or just over 2 kilos. Valued $1000
