Item Description

Beautifully chatoyant densely intergrown sprays of primary malachite needles form a sculptural old-time flattened crust of solid malachite from the famous Copper Queen Mine at Bisbee. The reverse is dramatically different, as most of the piece is composed of moderately lustrous velvet malachite botryoids with only a scattered accenting sprays of chatoyant malachite needles. This fine old-timer could date to prior to 1900 and undoubtedly dates to prior to World War I. Formerly in the Frankie Dee Hosea Collection. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 2002. MUCH better in person.
