Item Description

Charoite, a very complex silicate, is well-known as exceptional lapidiary material due to its beautiful violet to deep lilac color. This showy and uncommon two-sided combination minature is from the Type Locality in Eastern Russia. The pretty lavender charoite is highlighted by the nifty 1.0 cm spray of starkly contrasting lustrous black aegirine blades and scattered straw-yellow sections, to 8 mm, of the rare Th-silicate Steacyite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2618. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
