Item Description

Chalybite is an old English synonym for siderite and commonly used in the famous mines of Cornwall. Sparkly, densely packed, honey-brown, translucent, micro rhombs fill most of the sculptural, vuggy surface of this large piece. Striking, orange-brown, saddle-shaped clusters of larger rhombs are a highlight of one area of the piece. An old cloth label is attached to the back. Undoubtably over 100 years old, but no proof. Classic and excellent Cornwall chalybite.
