Item Description

This large open pit mine about 17 miles south of Tucson, Arizona has not produced a ton of actual mineral specimens, so whenever I see a piece from the famous Mission Pit, I get excited. This specimen features dozens of very thin, fibrous, bright metallic red crystals of Cuprite (var: "Chalcotrichite") which are sitting atop Native Copper matrix. Almost nothing is as distinctive as bright red Chalcotrichite needles on a secondary ore specimen. If you're an Arizona mineral collector, or if you like colorful display pieces, do not miss out on this beauty. From the Harold Urish collection, and very hard to find in today's market
