Item Description

Years ago there were so many of these superb quality sulfides from Peru on the market, and they seem to have disappeared recently. This piece features lustrous, sharp, well-formed, large, metallic golden Chalcopyrite crystals measuring up to 2.7 cm on edge. The Chalcopyrites have a semi-stepped appearance, and what looks like a micro amount of Pyrite coating some faces. Associated black Sphalerite and micro Quartz is a classic combo from this storied locality. This is a good quality display specimen, and these pieces are becoming more and more difficult to obtain these days. Only a tiny bit of damage on the display side, but the crystals are certainly larger than many Chalcopyrites I've seen from this mine.
