Item Description

RARE, excellent and rich chalcopyrite from this historic old lead-zinc mining area. Lustrous, brassy, chalcopyrite crystals, to 1.2 cm, cover the mounded matrix on this showy two-sided miniature. Scattered clusters of tiny glassy quartz points and a striking pair of sharp dogtooth calcite crystals, to 7 mm are super accessories and a fine contrast. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 4348 and acquired in the mid-1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
