Item Description
An impressive, large and sculptural two-sided combination from this well-known Siegerland lead and zinc mine. Famous for excellent dolomite specimens, the undulating front is totally covered with moderately lustrous, sharp, cream-colored dolomite rhombs. The red arrows point toward just a few of the small chalcopyrites, that are peppered on the piece. A few scattered larger, golden iridescent sphenoids, to 1.0 cm and scattered clusters of sharp, brassy, pyrite cubes are classic associations. The fields of quartz crystals at the top are a fine accent. A super bonus on the back is the striking rich coverage of pyrite cubes on the drusy quartz. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 11520 and obtained from the Cisneros' in the Spring of 1988. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Two-sided specimens of this size, richness and quality are very uncommon from here.
