An old-time, rich and showy large chalcopyrite combination plate from the historic precious metal, polymetallic mines here. Sharp, tetragonal, densely clustered chalcopyrites, to nearly 3.0 cm, have an oxide coating. Preferential coatings of calcite and dolomite microcrystals are an attractive and stark contrast to the coated chalcos. The broken edge reveals the splendent golden lustre of the chalcopyrites. Comes with a translation of the old label dated 1894. Ex David Burgess Collection, for whom Burgessite is named. Excellent old-time and uncommon large material from the locale.
