Chalcopyrite & Marcasite on Quartz (old & rare NM) (ex Mullane Coll.)

Item Description

Mineral specimens of ANY type are very rare from the old mines around Bayard, New Mexico. Iridescent, golden-brassy, chalcopyrite crystals and earthy, subhedral, gray, marcasite crystals are richly scattered amongst a forest of glassy quartz needles. Some bruising and periphery wear are noted, but this remains a rare and showy combination specimen from the uncommon mining area. Possibly from the Black Hawk District. Undoubtably old material, but no proof. Ex Dennis Mullane Collection.
