Chalcopyrite in Calcite on Dolomite (classic find)

Item Description

This is a great small cabinet specimen featuring a classic and showy combination from the quarries at Black Rock and typical of 1960s-1980s finds. The pristine, glassy calcite crystals, some of which are doubly terminated, showcase distinctive phantoms that represent secondary growth. Sharp, metallic golden chalcopyrite crystals are included within the calcite and are also sprinkled across the classic saddle-shaped pink dolomite rhombs, characteristic of this locale. The quarries in this area are renowned for their pink dolomite specimens, and when combined with high-quality calcite crystals like these, they become true treasures. Ex Jingnan (Tom) Zhang.
