Item Description

The Pea Ridge Mine was the last operating underground iron mine in the United States, closing in 2001. Mineral specimens are uncommon, in general, and fine fluorite combination pieces, such as this are rare. Sparkly microcrystalline hematite coats the glassy lavender to colorless fluorite cubes, to 2.2 cm. Iridescent, golden chalcopyrites are a super accent. The fluorites have modest purple fluorescence. Excellent and uncommon combination material from the Art Soregaroli Collection.
