Item Description

A classic, old-time and very showy combination piece from the famous Herodsfoot Mine. Colorful, iridescent, chalcopyrite coats sharp tetrahedrite crystals to 1.5 cm. The sparkly quartz crystal matrix also hosts bournonite crystals, tan siderite and a couple of very nifty marcasite hemispheres on the tetrahedrites. Identical tetrahedrites are featured in the recent excellent and extensive Mineralogical Record article on this renowned old locale. Specimens of this quality date from the 1850s to 1880s. Ex Sartorius von Waltershausen Collection and Herb Obodda Collection # 3156. Value???
