Item Description

The Bandora Mine was intermittently active from 1884 to about 1950. This specimen is from finds in the early 1980s This mine has produced some of the finest Chalcopyrite specimens ever found in Colorado and this is a great thumbnail of said material. The striking, sharp, interpenetrating Chalcopyrite crystals at the top of the specimen have a beautiful golden-brassy color, and are lightly striated and sitting atop a matrix of Quartz. The aesthetics of the piece and scarcity of the material make it a desirable display specimen from this historic mine, which is best known for Chalcopyrite. The largest crystal measures 1.6 cm.
