Item Description
Old-time, RARE and rich Chalcopyrite variety Blister Copper from the historic Cu-Sn Levant Mine of Cornwall. Both sides of the sculptural mounded vuggy small cabinet are richly covered with bronzy, lustrous to matte luster blister copper botryoids, to 7 mm. This famous old mine on the coast operated intermittently from 1793 to 1930. Formerly in the J.A. Jones Collection. Ex Tim Sherburn Collection. Blister copper specimens of this richness and quality are RARE from here and this is an excellent example that probably dates to the 1800s, from the notable English suite of the Sherburn collection.
