The Madan ore field in Bulgaria is one of the great producers of sulfide specimens in the modern era of mineral collecting. From Sphalerite to Galena to Chalcopyrite, this area is well-known for producing some beautiful display quality mineral specimens of well-known minerals. This piece is a good quality Chalcopyrite featuring a layered group of brassy colored, sharp, lustrous metallic crystals associated with minor Calcite, Quartz and Galena on the back. The Chalcopyrites are oriented into an almost "fan"-like group, similar to playing cards held in the hand. No damage that I can find. The piece was difficult to photograph/video, and I truly think it looks better in person, so don't miss out on this one if you're a fan of sulfides or minerals from Bulgaria.
