Item Description

A classic Cornish association specimen featuring a pair of secondary copper minerals. Some of the best and most well-known examples of Chalcophyllite are those from Cornwall. With magnification, you can see there are two groups of Chalcophyllite featuring tiny, but well-formed hexagonal bladed crystals forming semi "rosettes" of a beautiful green-blue color sitting on a layer of rich turquoise blue colored Chrysocolla, on oxidized matrix. We have photographed the Chalcophyllite with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality.
From the collection Dr. Robert ("Rob") Bowell, a geochemist and adjunct professor in Geochemistry and Mineralogy at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Rob has a background in applied geology in tropical and deeply weathered terrains, he also has done mining consulting in the fields of due diligence, financial and technical audits, process chemistry, environmental geochemistry, environmental engineering and mineralogy.
