Item Description
Sharp, beautiful iridescent turquoise-blue, bladed, trigonal crystals of Cornish chalcophyllite very richly and attractively cover the front and fill a nifty small vug on the back of the quartz-rich matrix on this very classic, old-time specimen. The mines of Cornwall are among the most classic localities in all of Europe, and chalcophyllite is one of the most distinctive and coveted species for collectors. Chalcophyllite is certainly uncommon around the world, and Cornwall produced the most classic and well known specimens in history. Fine specimens of this material are few and far between these days, and are always in demand. Certainly from the late 1800s. A very fine and rich example of the species and locale from the John Calvert Collection. Valued at $750.
