Chalcophyllite (classic material)

Item Description

A classic specimen of Slovak Chalcophyllite hosting well-formed, blue-green, bladed, trigonal crystals on matrix. The piece is best seen under magnification, and we used our Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens to better show the quality. The mines of Spania Dolina are among the most classic copper mining localities in all of Europe, and Chalcophyllite is one of the more sought after species for collectors. Chalcophyllite is certainly uncommon around the world, and this area produced some of the better known specimens around. Fine specimens of this material are few and far between these days.
