Item Description
Chalcophanite is a rare hydrated Zn-Mn oxide. It is VERY RARE from famous Leadville. Brown botryoids, many hollow, strikingly fill the sculptural vug atop the layered vuggy granular sulfide matrix. Old-time material, dating to the early 1900s, from the Paterson Museum Collection, where it was on display. Not pretty to look at, but this is significant and important Leadville rarity. MINDAT features no photos in the Leadville photo gallery. MUST for the Leadville or Colorado collector!
