A world class chalcocite from New Jersey!!!!!!! Exceptional, shapely and rare well-crystallized chalcocite from this famous New Jersey traprock quarry. The aesthetic and sculptural cluster of intergrown crystals is dramatically dominated by the pristine, sharp and sharply terminated, 2.4 cm, tabular prism at the crest. The charcoal-gray crystals have moderate luster and patches of embedded green chrysocolla are a fine contrast and typical accessory. Contacts on the sides have pretty iridescence. This piece is from the small 2001 find at the Chimney Rock Quarry. Ex Frank Imbriacco III Collection, a well-known New Jersey field collector and collector, who probably collected the piece. The $2500 price on Frank's label is at least a decade old and excellent provenance as he is so well known for top NJ minerals.
