Bristol Copper Mine chalcocites are an East Coast classic and are considered to be some of the very best chalcocites from anywhere in the world. Sharp, tabular, matte-finish, dark metallic-gray chalcocite prisms to 8 mm are richly and aesthetically clustered against starkly contrasting, lustrous dogtooth calcite scalenohedrons. The hefty ore matrix is massive chalcocite and bornite. Only one broken crystal is noted. A classic, excellent, undoubtably old-time combination specimen, as the mine was worked intermittently from 1837 to 1953. Primary production was from 1837 to 1895.
