Item Description

Rare and unusual pseudomorphs from this extinct open pit New Mexico copper mine. Chalcocite, altering to green malachite, has pseudomorphed these two fragments of fossilized wood. "These logs were the main source of ore for the open pit mine, and high silver values were found in some of the logs. Some logs were observed at over 1 meter wide and 6-10 meters long."
