Item Description
Chalcocite pseudomorphs after thin covellite plates are a Butte classic and this is an outstanding example from the famous Leonard Mine. The moderately lustrous, greenish-gray plates reach a substantial 4.2 cm wide. They show full replacement (or nearly so, at least), compared to the usual splotchy-looking partial pseudos we see in most cases. These were found probably in the 1950s and 1960s, but could have been earlier. THis is an aesthetic miniature, and one of the best of this style we have seen - Complete all-around with only modest bruising on the ends. Classic and excellent older Butte material, valued $1200-1500
