RARE, old, large for the locale chalcocite coating pyrite from the well-known Chino Mine of New Mexico. A very sharp floater complex Pyritohedron is coated with moderately lustrous Chalcocite. This open pit porphyry Cu-Mo-Au-Ag-PGE-Pb deposit/mine has easily produced the finest examples of the chalcocite-pyrite combination. These used to be referred to as Ducktownite - a rare variety of Chalcocite, a blackish chalcocite coating or enclosing crystals or grains of pyrite. It was originally described from the Ducktown mine, Ducktown, Polk Co., Tennessee (MINDAT). VERY RARE in this size and quality from the Art Soregaroli Collection. A significant find, as even the pit and pit level are known - 5750 Level, South Pit.
