Bristol Copper Mine chalcocites are an East Coast classic and are considered to be some of the very best chalcocites from anywhere in the world. Sharp, striated, lustrous, dark metallic-gray chalcocite prisms to 9 mm are richly and aesthetically clustered on the starkly contrasting vug lined with glassy, amber dogtooth calcite scalenohedrons. A classic, undoubtably old-time combination specimen, as the mine was worked intermittently from 1837 to 1953. Primary production was from 1837 to 1895.
