Item Description
Chalcocite is a signature species from this famous old and extinct Cornwall copper mine. This is a outstanding and aesthetic two-sided thumbnail with textbook sharp, well-striated, beautifully lightly iridescent charcoal-gray crystals. A major historical specimen, certainly over 100 years old. The bruised top on one side has negligible impact to the overall importance of this classic and excellent piece. Formerly in the Scott Williams Collection, which he acquired in 1958. Kay Robertson acquired this piece from Scott in 1960 for $50, a VERY HIGH price for a thumbnail in those days!! Valued at $400-600 today.
