Item Description
Certainly, the Chalcocites from the Flambeau Mine are among the most recognizable and highly sought after examples of the species extant. Their characteristic form and eye-catching "peacock"-like iridescence make them amazingly eye-catching and valuable. This miniature sized specimen is a very good quality group of stacked, pseudo-hexagonal (monoclinic) blades of very sharp, lustrous, well-formed crystals with a beautiful blue and purple "sheen" on the surface. The pagoda-like form along with the excellent quality of the crystals are superb for the material. The display side is virtually undamaged, and displays wonderfully as you can see from the photos. Another great aspect of the piece is the fact that the crystals are so distinct and actually have decent separation, and are not just a large indistinguishable mass like many from this future classic locality. Valued at $1500, and now very difficult to find on the market as the locality has been closed for over a decade, never to reopen.
