Chalcocite (classic material)

When it comes to crystallized specimens of Chalcocite, the classic examples from Bristol, Connecticut are not only considered East Coast classics, but are adored as some of the very best pieces of the species extant. This small cabinet specimen features fine quality sharp, striated, lustrous, dark metallic-gray Chalcocite prisms to 9 mm sitting on matrix. The crystals have a fantastic old-time patina. Overall the quality is excellent, I cant' find any major damage with the naked eye. A classic, undoubtedly old-time piece, as the mine was worked intermittently from 1837 to 1953, but primary production was from 1837 to 1895, so the piece is very likely over 100 years old.
