Chalcocite (classic locality)

Item Description

A beautiful full cabinet sized piece of these classic and excellent Chalcocites from the Las Cruces Mine featuring dozens of sharp, lustrous, well-formed, metallic, silvery-grey pseudo-metallic crystals measuring up to about 6 mm, on host rock matrix. Looking closely, we found some beautiful twinned Chalcocites on the piece as well, and you can see one of them illustrated in the second close-up photo. A great big piece of these well-known yet somewhat elusive pieces from this classic locale, known for its copper/silver sulfides/sulfosalts.
From the collection of Raul Sanabria Orellana, whose label states that this specimen was obtained in December of 2020.
