Item Description
Cornwall chalcocite, mined in the heyday of the mid to late 1800s, still sets a high standard for the species that is seldom matched. Really good specimens, with sharp crystals like this, are uncommon. These crystals are sharp discs, to 1.3 cm in size (half-inch). This is a piece from the Ed David collection. However in its prior history it had to survive pristine, for at least a century out of the ground...obviously now they are hard to come by. Ex Ed David collection, purchased from Herb Obodda in 2001 for $3800 according to his catalogue.
