Item Description

A classic Cornish Chalcocite specimen from the famous Geevor Mine featuring sharp, lustrous, platy, grey-black pseudo-hexagonal crystals of Chalcocite on host rock matrix. This is hard to find material, and good Chalcocites from Cornwall are among the best in the world for the species. A rich ore specimen from this historic, rich mine that operated intermittently from the late 1700s to 1990. The label that accompanies the piece says that it was found in the "North Pig Lode".
