Item Description

An unusual specimen from the area most famous for its world-class Tanzanite crystals featuring soft blue colored, "waxy" Chalcedony which has overgrown pyramidal crystals of Quartz on matrix. You can see on the back of the piece that the original colorless translucent Quartz is visible in a few spots, so it's not a replacement or a pseudomorph per se, but just one form of Quartz overgrowing another. Certainly not what one would expect from this locality, and it's quite attractive in person. The piece actually sits nicely on its own without the aid of a base or clay.
