Item Description

This piece is a good quality Chalcedony specimen from the Slanec Quarry in Slovakia. The individual "spheres", are actually somewhat lustrous, and have a light silvery-lavender color, but they are overgrown by what I'm assuming is another form / phase of beige/tan Quartz, but I'm not 100% certain. This is more than a reference piece, and would make a good addition to a Quartz collection, or a collection of European minerals. According to mindat.org, Chalcedony is "traditionally defined as a fibrous cryptocrystalline variety of Quartz, more recently, it has been shown that much Chalcedony is a mixture of Quartz and Moganite, another silica mineral"
