Item Description

Here we have a classic example of what is commonly referred to as "Gem Silica", but it's essentially gem grade Chrysocolla that is colored by Chrysocolla. Chrysocolla is typically opaque, and rarely does one see gem quality stones of this material, but when it's combined with Chalcedony (cryptocrystalline Quartz), you get these gorgeous gems. This stone has a vibrant blue color and looks beautiful in both reflected light and transmitted light. The stone has a "Round Cabochon" cut. The vibrant color in Chrysocolla is often caused by copper, and you don't need a lot of it to get a really saturated stone like this one. This would be a superb rare gem to add to any collection, and would end up being a wonderful bargain.
