Item Description

A beautiful specimen of the secondary Chalcanthite specimens from the Aztec Mine featuring intense blue, striated groups measuring up to 1.0 cm aesthetically free-standing off the host rock matrix. It should be noted that these Chalcanthite crystals form as a post-mining result of acidic waters reacting with Copper veins underground. So they are naturally formed, with a bit of help from the mining process. The color, form and sheer visceral beauty of this piece makes a desirable specimen for any fan of secondary ore minerals or minerals of Arizona. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California.
