Chalcanthite

Item Description

Emplaced on a matrix of copper stained rocks, possibly malachite, are acicular crystals, to 1 cm in length, neon, sky blue chalcanthite. It is almost certain that these crystals originated in post mining conditions within the mine, as copper-rich waters drain through. There are legtimate sellers of such pieces collected in the mine, and this was bought at a show with such. However, it is also possible to grow these, to mimic, in the lab. Ex Joe Budd Collection
