Item Description
Phacolite is the uncommon lens-shaped variety of chabazite due to twinning/multiple twinning of rhombohedrons. This rare, old plate features glassy, crackly-looking, colorless phacolite crystals to about 1.2 cm covering the basalt matrix. It hails from the much less well-known Kyogle Quarry of New South Wales. According to a 1988 Mineralogical Record article (Vol. 19, # 6), chabazite specimens of this quality were limited to early 1920s finds. Extremely rare on the market in this quality.
